What you can do
- Calculate from your weight in kg or lb: 35 ml per kg.
- Add 0.5 l for every hour of exercise you did today.
- Add 0.5 l for hot weather or a hot place.
- Compare the result with the EFSA reference for adults: 2.5 l for men and 2.0 l for women.
Good to know
- The total is water from all sources, food included. Only about 80 % has to come from drinks.
- It is an estimate. Heart or kidney conditions can call for less water, so ask your doctor.
- Exercise minutes can be from 0 to 1,440.
Questions
How much water should I drink a day?
The tool counts 35 ml per kg of body weight. At 70 kg that is about 2.5 l in total, of which about 2 l from drinks.
Does coffee or tea count?
The tool counts all drinks as the "from drinks" part, without separating the types.
Should I drink more when I exercise?
Yes. The tool adds 0.5 l per hour of exercise and another 0.5 l in hot weather.
Is my data stored?
No. It stays in your browser and is not sent.
