What is BMR?
Basal metabolic rate is the energy your body needs for breathing, circulation and keeping warm while you rest. It is given in kilocalories a day.
Which BMR formula is best?
Mifflin-St Jeor is the usual choice and the tool's default. Katch-McArdle can fit better if you know your body fat percentage.
Is BMR the same as the calories I should eat?
No. It is only your resting burn. Multiply by an activity factor to get your daily need, which the TDEE calculator does.
