glTF texture resizer
Shrink the textures inside a GLB or glTF file. Set the largest side from 4096 down to 128 pixels, round to power-of-two sizes and re-encode as WebP, JPEG or PNG. See each texture before and after, free and in your browser.
How to resize textures in a GLB file
- 1Drop a GLB or glTF in, with its .bin and textures
- 2Choose the largest side, power-of-two and a format
- 3Check the table and 3D views, then save the GLB
- A GLB with smaller textures and the same model.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded. The file is read and its pictures are resized by your browser.
- Every texture listed.A table shows each texture's old and new size and file weight.
- The geometry stays.Only the pictures change, so the mesh keeps its shape.
What you can do
- Set the largest texture side to 4096, 2048, 1024, 512, 256 or 128 pixels. 1024 is the default.
- Keep sizes at powers of two (512, 1024, 2048 and so on), which many game engines and GPUs prefer.
- Keep each texture's format, or re-encode all of them as WebP, JPEG or PNG.
- Compare before and after in two 3D views, with the totals for the file and for its textures.
Good to know
- Textures under the limit stay as they are, unless power-of-two rounds them to the nearest size. KTX2 textures are left alone.
- JPEG has no see-through areas. Use PNG or WebP for textures that need transparency.
- The result is always a GLB. A glTF with separate files needs its .bin and textures dropped together.
Questions
How do I make the textures in a GLB smaller?
Drop the file in and lower the largest texture side. 1024 pixels is a good start. Choose WebP to save more space.
Why power-of-two sizes?
Many GPUs and engines handle sizes like 512 or 1024 better, for mipmaps and compression. Tick the option to round to them.
Does it change the mesh?
No. Only the pictures inside the file change.
Is my model uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your own device.
