GLB compressor (Draco/Meshopt)
Make a GLB or glTF file smaller. Compress the geometry with Draco or meshopt, quantize vertex data, clean up duplicates and re-encode textures as WebP, then compare the sizes before and after. Free, in your browser, nothing uploaded.
How to compress a GLB file
- 1Drop a GLB or glTF in, with its .bin and textures
- 2Pick Draco or meshopt, and a texture format and size
- 3Compare before and after, then save the GLB
- A smaller GLB, with the saving shown in percent.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded.Compression runs in your browser with WebAssembly, on your own device.
- Before and after, side by side. Two 3D views and a table show file size, triangles and textures.
- Opens in most engines.Draco and meshopt are both read by common viewers and game engines.
What you can do
- Compress geometry with Draco (smallest geometry), with meshopt (fast to decode, also for animations) or not at all.
- Quantize vertex data to make it smaller. This shows when you do not use Draco or meshopt.
- Clean up: merge duplicates, drop unused data and weld vertices.
- Re-encode textures as WebP, JPEG or PNG, or keep their format, and cap the largest texture side at 4096, 2048, 1024, 512 or 256 pixels.
- See each texture's old and new size and file weight in a table.
Good to know
- The result is always a GLB, even if you drop a glTF.
- The viewer or engine that opens the file must support Draco or meshopt. Most do, but check yours.
- A glTF with separate files needs its .bin and textures dropped together.
Questions
How do I make a GLB file smaller?
Drop it in and leave the geometry on Draco. Add WebP textures and a smaller largest texture side if the file has big pictures. The table shows how much you saved.
What is the difference between Draco and meshopt?
Draco gives the smallest geometry. Meshopt decodes faster and also handles animations. Pick one, or switch geometry compression off.
Does compression change how the model looks?
Draco and quantization round the vertex data a little, and lossy textures lose some detail. Compare the two 3D views before you save.
Is my model uploaded?
No. It is compressed in your browser and saved on your device.
