glTF validator
Check a GLB or glTF file with the official Khronos glTF-Validator. You get errors, warnings, infos and hints, each with its code, a message and the JSON pointer to the spot. The validator runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device.
How to validate a glTF or GLB file
- 1Drop a GLB or glTF in, with its .bin and textures
- 2Read the verdict and the list of messages
- 3Filter by severity or save the report as JSON
- A verdict and a list of issues you can save as JSON.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded. The Khronos validator runs in your browser, on your own device.
- The official validator. The same Khronos glTF-Validator that other tools and viewers use.
- Pinpointed issues.Every message has its code and the JSON pointer to where it sits.
What you can do
- See at once whether the file is valid glTF 2.0, valid with warnings, or broken, with a count of errors, warnings, infos and hints.
- Read each message with its severity, code, text and the JSON pointer to the spot in the file.
- Switch errors, warnings, infos and hints on and off. Hints are hidden at first.
- See facts about the file: glTF version, generator, triangles, vertices, draw calls, materials and extensions used.
- Save the full report as a JSON file.
Good to know
- The validator only checks that the file follows the glTF 2.0 rules. It does not say whether the model looks right.
- A glTF with separate files is checked together with its .bin and textures, so drop them along with it.
- This tool takes GLB and glTF only. For other formats, convert to GLB first.
Questions
How do I check if a GLB file is valid?
Drop it in. The tool runs the Khronos glTF-Validator and tells you whether the file is valid glTF 2.0, and lists every error and warning.
What is a JSON pointer?
It is the path to the spot in the glTF's JSON where the problem is, for example a mesh or a material. Use it to find the part that needs fixing.
What is the difference between errors and warnings?
An error means the file breaks the glTF rules and may not load. A warning is valid but may cause trouble in some viewers.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The validator runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device.
