What you can do
- Turn, zoom and move around the model, and press Fit to bring it back to the middle.
- Switch on Wireframe to see how fine the triangles are, and Grid to judge scale.
- Read the triangle and vertex count and the size as width × depth × height.
- Choose the unit the file was made in (mm, cm, m, in or ft). The size line updates at once.
- Open binary and text (ASCII) STL files.
Good to know
- STL stores no unit. The viewer guesses millimetres, the usual unit for printing. If the size looks wrong, change the unit.
- STL has no colours, materials, textures or animations, so those counts are zero and the model shows in one plain material.
- The viewer shows the shape. It does not repair holes or flipped faces.
Questions
How big is my STL?
The size line shows width, depth and height. STL has no unit, so it starts in millimetres. Pick another unit if the numbers look off.
Is my STL uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the file on your own device. It is never sent to us or anyone else.
Why is the model grey?
STL stores only the shape. Use 3MF, OBJ or GLB if you need colours.
Can I see inside the model?
Wireframe shows the triangle mesh. For a printable check, use the STL repair tool from the related tools.
