  • Open a CSV with semicolons, as German Excel writes it. The separator is recognized, and decimal commas such as 1.234,56 become numbers.
  • Keep formulas when you save as Excel or OpenDocument.

Good to know

  • Comma-separated values: plain text, one row per line, the oldest and most widely read table format. It holds values only, no formulas, colors or several sheets.
  • Structured text from the web. As a table it is a list of objects, one row each; nested objects become columns named like a.b.
  • CSV, JSON and PDF get the values of formulas, not the formulas. Excel and OpenDocument files keep the formulas.
  • A workbook with several sheets becomes one CSV file per sheet, or one JSON object with a key for each sheet.
  • A JSON file is read as a table: nested objects become columns named like a.b.
  • The page has no upload, so there is nothing to delete afterwards.

Questions

Is my CSV file uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read and converted by your browser on your own device. It is never sent to us or anyone else.

Can I convert CSV to JSON without Excel?

Yes. The conversion runs in your browser, so you need no Excel, LibreOffice or other spreadsheet program.

What happens to formulas?

Excel and OpenDocument files keep them. CSV, JSON and PDF get the last calculated value of each cell.

Is it free?
