Licences and sources
Last updated: 6 October 2026
ToolRecipe is built with open-source software, open AI models and open fonts. This page names them and links to the licence text of each, which we publish next to the files themselves. Thank you to everyone who made them.
Libraries under the LGPL and the MPL
These libraries are shipped unchanged, as separate files that ToolRecipe only loads and calls. You may replace them with your own build. Each folder has a SOURCE.txt that says where the exact source is.
- libheif and libde265 (opening HEIC and HEIF photos), version 1.23.2, GNU Lesser General Public License 3: licence, build licence, libde265, source.
- LAME (saving MP3), GNU Lesser General Public License 2 or later, inside the Mediabunny MP3 encoder 1.59.1: licence, source.
- FFmpeg's AAC encoder (saving AAC audio), GNU Lesser General Public License 2.1 or later, inside the Mediabunny AAC encoder 1.59.1: licence, source.
- Mediabunny and its two encoder add-ons (reading and writing video and audio), version 1.59.1, Mozilla Public License 2.0: licence, source.
Nothing in these terms stops you from reverse engineering these libraries to debug your own changes to them.
