Compress JPG
Make JPG photos smaller with a quality slider, online and free. Lower the quality a little and the file shrinks a lot, usually without a visible change. Nothing is uploaded: your browser does the work.
How to compress JPG images
- 1Drop your JPG photos in, or click to choose them
- 2Set the quality with the slider
- 3Press "Compress" and save the result
- Smaller JPG files, never bigger than before.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded.Your images are read and compressed by your browser, on your own device.
- Never bigger. If a file cannot get smaller, the original comes back as it is.
- Many at once.Add a batch and get one ZIP with every result.
What you can do
- Set the quality from 30 to 95. It starts at 75, a good balance for photos.
- See each file's size before and after in the list, with the percentage saved.
- Compress many photos at once and get them as one ZIP, or a single file saved as itself.
- Drop in other images too: PNG, WebP and AVIF are compressed in their own format.
Good to know
- The tool follows each file's own format, so a PNG dropped here is compressed as PNG.
- If a JPG cannot get smaller, you get the original back, never a bigger file.
- Very low quality shows blocks and blurred edges. Move up a few steps if it looks rough.
- HEIC photos from an iPhone come out as JPG.
Questions
How much can I shrink a JPG?
It depends on the photo and the quality you choose. Photos from a phone often shrink by half or more at the default of 75, and the list shows the real number for each file.
Does compressing a JPG again hurt it?
Each pass at a lower quality loses a little detail. Start from your best copy and compress once.
Do I need an account or an upload?
No. You do not sign in, and the photos never leave your device.
