Compress WEBP

Compress WebP images with a quality slider and save a smaller file, online and free. WebP is already compact, so a few steps down on the slider often still saves a good share. Nothing is uploaded: your browser does the work.

How to compress WebP images

  1. 1Drop your WebP images in, or click to choose them
  2. 2Set the quality with the slider
  3. 3Press "Compress" and save the result
  4. Smaller WebP files, never bigger than before.

What happens to your files

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your images are read and compressed by your browser, on your own device.
  • Never bigger. If a file cannot get smaller, the original comes back as it is.
  • Many at once.Add a batch and get one ZIP with every result.

What you can do

  • Set the quality from 30 to 95, starting at 75.
  • Check the size before and after for every file in the list.
  • Compress a batch and get one ZIP, or a single file saved as itself.
  • Mix in PNG, JPG or AVIF files: each one is compressed in its own format.

Good to know

  • The file stays a WebP, so it still opens in current browsers and apps that support WebP.
  • If a file cannot get smaller, the original comes back unchanged.
  • The tool follows each file's own format, so a JPG dropped here is compressed as JPG.
  • Animated WebP is not something this tool is made for: use a still image.

Questions

Can I make a WebP smaller?

Yes. Lower the quality slider and press "Compress". The list shows the new size next to the old one.

Will the file still be a WebP?

Yes. The result keeps the WebP format and the file name.

Is my image uploaded?

No. The compressing runs in your browser.
