Change video speed
Make a video twice as fast or play it in slow motion at half speed, free and online. The new speed is written into the file, so it plays that way everywhere. Nothing is uploaded: the video is changed in your browser.
How to change the speed of a video
- 1Drop a video in, or click to choose one
- 2Pick 0.5× (slow motion) or 2× (faster)
- 3Click "Save video"
- A new video that plays at the speed you picked.
What happens to your video
- Nothing is uploaded.Your video is read and re-encoded by your browser, on your own device.
- Sound follows the picture. The sound is sped up or slowed down with the picture, so pitch changes like a tape.
- Trim and rotate too.The same window has start and end handles and a rotate option.
What you can do
- Slow a clip down to 0.5× or speed it up to 2×.
- Cut the start and end at the same time with two handles, and watch the preview inside the kept part.
- Turn the video or remove its sound in the same pass.
- Open MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, M4V, 3GP and TS files. You get an MP4, or a WebM if the original was WebM or MKV.
Good to know
- Speed has three settings: 0.5×, normal and 2×. There is no free slider.
- A new speed means the video is re-encoded, so it takes longer than a plain trim. The window tells you before you start.
- The tool uses your graphics chip and works best in desktop Chrome or Edge.
- The pitch of the sound changes with the speed. Remove the sound if that bothers you.
