Rotate video

Rotate a video by 90° or 180°, free and online. It fixes phone clips that play sideways or upside down. For MP4 and MOV files the turn is saved without re-encoding, so it is quick and loses no quality. Nothing is uploaded.

How to rotate a video

  1. 1Drop a video in, or click to choose one
  2. 2Pick "90° clockwise" or "Upside down (180°)"
  3. 3Click "Save video"
  4. The same video, turned the way you chose.

What happens to your video

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your video is read and saved by your browser, on your own device.
  • No re-encoding for MP4.The turn is stored in the file, so the picture is not touched.
  • See it before saving. The preview turns as you choose, so you can check the direction.

What you can do

  • Turn a video 90° clockwise, 90° counter-clockwise or 180°.
  • Check the result in the preview before you save.
  • Trim the start and end in the same step.
  • Remove the sound or change the speed while you are at it.
  • Open MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, M4V, 3GP and TS files.

Good to know

  • For MP4 and MOV the rotation is saved as a flag in the file. Most players and phones respect it, but a few older players ignore it.
  • A WebM or MKV is re-encoded to turn it. That takes longer and the window says so.
  • Pick "Don't rotate" to leave the angle as it is.
  • The result is an MP4, or a WebM if the original was WebM or MKV.
  • It uses your graphics chip and works best in desktop Chrome or Edge.
