Mute video

Remove the sound from a video, free and online. For MP4 and MOV files the picture is copied as it is, so it takes seconds and loses no quality. Nothing is uploaded: the file is changed in your browser.

How to remove the sound from a video

  1. 1Drop a video in, or click to choose one
  2. 2Keep "Remove the sound" ticked
  3. 3Click "Save video"
  4. The same video with no audio track.

What happens to your video

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your video is read and saved by your browser, on your own device.
  • The picture is not re-encoded.It is copied as it is, so quality stays and saving is quick.
  • No audio track left. The sound is dropped from the file, not just turned down.

What you can do

  • Take the audio track out of a video so it plays in silence.
  • Trim the start and end in the same step, with handles and a preview.
  • Rotate the video in the same pass.
  • Open MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, M4V, 3GP and TS files.

Good to know

  • The picture stays untouched unless you also pick a new speed, or rotate a WebM. Then it is re-encoded and takes longer. The window says which applies.
  • If you want to keep the sound as its own file, use "Extract audio from video" first.
  • A video with no sound can be saved, but nothing changes.
  • The result is an MP4, or a WebM if the original was WebM or MKV.
