Open a 3MF file in your browser to check a print job before you slice it. 3MF is the 3D printing format that keeps its unit, so the size you see is the real one. Turn the model, count its triangles and read its materials. Nothing is uploaded.

How to view a 3MF file online

What happens to your files

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your 3MF model is read by your browser, on your own device.
  • The unit is read from the file.3MF records millimetres, inches and more, and the viewer uses that for the size.
  • Materials are counted.The facts list shows meshes, triangles, vertices, materials and textures.

What you can do

  • Turn, zoom and move around the model, and press Fit to bring it back to the middle.
  • Switch on Wireframe to see the triangles, and Grid to judge scale.
  • Read the size as width × depth × height, with inches or millimetres next to it.
  • See how many meshes, materials and textures the 3MF holds.
  • Check a model from a slicer or CAD program before you send it to the printer.

Good to know

  • 3MF is a zip package. The viewer opens it and reads the model inside, so a damaged archive gives an error message.
  • 3MF has no animations. If a file names no unit, the viewer assumes millimetres.
  • The viewer shows the model. It does not show slicer settings such as supports or infill.

Is my 3MF uploaded?

No. Your browser unpacks and reads the file on your own device. It is never sent to us or anyone else.

Is the size shown correct?

It follows the unit stored in the file. If the file names none, the viewer uses millimetres.

What is the difference between 3MF and STL?

STL holds only the shape. 3MF also keeps the unit, colours and materials, and can hold several objects.

Can I turn the 3MF into STL?
