What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded.Your glTF model is read by your browser, on your own device.
- Companion files stay local.The .bin and the textures are matched by name from the files you drop, not fetched.
- Missing files are named.If the .bin is absent you are told which one. Missing textures are listed.
What you can do
- Drop a .gltf with its .bin and image files, or a whole folder, and see the model with its textures.
- Turn, zoom and move around it. Wireframe shows the triangles, Grid helps with scale.
- Read meshes, triangles, vertices, materials and textures, and the size of the model.
- Play the animations in the file and see their length.
- Open glTF files that use Draco, meshopt or KTX2 compression.
Good to know
- A .gltf is only the description. Without its .bin the geometry cannot be read, and the viewer says which file is missing.
- Textures that are not dropped with the model are listed as missing, and the model shows without them.
- glTF counts in metres, so the size line is exact. If you have a single self-contained file, use the GLB viewer.
Questions
Why does my glTF show an error about a .bin file?
The .gltf points to a .bin file that was not dropped with it. Drop the folder, or choose both files together.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the .gltf, the .bin and the textures on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Can I open an embedded glTF without extra files?
Yes, if the geometry and images are embedded in the .gltf as data, there is nothing else to drop.
Can I convert it to GLB?
Yes. Use the glTF to GLB converter from the related tools.
