Scale 3D model
Scale a 3D model by a factor, convert its units between millimetres, centimetres, metres, inches and feet, or set its largest side to an exact length. Drop in GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, PLY or FBX and save a GLB. Free, in your browser.
How to scale a 3D model
- 1Drop a 3D model in, or click to choose it
- 2Convert units, scale by a factor or set the largest side
- 3Check the new size, then save the GLB
- A GLB at the new size, with the factor shown.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded. The model is read and scaled by your browser, on your own device.
- Three ways to scale.Convert units, use a factor, or fit the largest side to a length.
- Before and after sizes.The model's X × Y × Z size is shown before and after.
What you can do
- Convert units: tell the tool the file is in mm, cm, m, inches or feet and what you want it in.
- Scale by a factor, such as 0.5 for half or 2 for double.
- Set the largest side to a length, in the file's units, and the tool works out the factor.
- Compare the sizes in two 3D views and in a table, with triangle and vertex counts.
- Fixes the classic mismatch where a model made in millimetres turns up 1000 times too big in a metre-based viewer.
Good to know
- glTF is in metres, while 3D print files are mostly in millimetres.
- The result is always a GLB. OBJ, STL, PLY and FBX files are converted first.
- The scaling is applied on a parent node, so the meshes themselves are not rewritten.
Questions
How do I change a model from millimetres to metres?
Choose "Convert units", set "The file is in" to millimetres and "Make it" to metres. The tool applies the factor 0.001.
Why is my model 1000 times too big?
The file is probably in millimetres, but glTF and most viewers expect metres. Convert from mm to m.
Can I set an exact size?
Yes. Choose "Set the largest side" and type the length. The other sides follow in proportion.
Is my model uploaded?
No. It is scaled in your browser and saved on your device.
