Center & reorient model
Fix a model that lies on its side or sits far from the origin. Turn a Z-up model Y-up, rotate it around the up axis, center it and stand it on the floor, then save a GLB. Free, in your browser, with a before and after view.
How to center and reorient a 3D model
- 1Drop a GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, PLY or FBX model in
- 2Pick which axis points up, a turn and where the origin goes
- 3Check the before and after, then save the GLB
- A GLB with the model upright and placed.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded. The model is read and changed by your browser, on your own device.
- The model itself is not altered. One parent node carries the rotation and move, the meshes stay as they are.
- Before and after in 3D.Both views sit side by side with the size shown as X × Y × Z.
What you can do
- Choose what is up in your file: Y (glTF, three.js), Z (CAD, 3D printing, Blender without conversion), minus Z, X or upside down.
- Turn the model 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees around the up axis.
- Set the origin: center it and stand it on the floor, center it on the origin, or don't move it.
- Read the model's size before and after as X × Y × Z, together with the triangle and vertex counts.
- OBJ, STL, PLY and FBX files are converted to GLB first, and a glTF's .bin and textures can be dropped with it.
Good to know
- The result is always a GLB, whatever the input format.
- The center is the middle of the model's bounding box, so a model with a stray piece far away will shift to match.
- A glTF with separate files needs its .bin and textures dropped together with it.
Questions
How do I turn a Z-up model into a Y-up one?
Pick "Z is up" under "In the file". The tool rotates the model so Z becomes Y, the way glTF and three.js expect it.
How do I put a model on the floor?
Leave Origin on "Center it and stand it on the floor". The model is centered left to right and front to back, and its lowest point lands on zero.
Does this change the mesh?
No. The meshes keep their data. The tool adds one parent node that holds the rotation and the move.
Is my model uploaded?
No. It is processed in your browser and the GLB is saved on your device.
