Fill PDF form from spreadsheet

Turn one PDF form and a spreadsheet into many filled copies. Each row of a CSV or Excel file becomes its own PDF, with the columns matched to the form's fields, and everything comes as one ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.

How to fill a PDF form from a spreadsheet

  1. 1Drop in the PDF form and open "Fill from a spreadsheet"
  2. 2Drop in a CSV or Excel file and check the field mapping
  3. 3Pick how to name the files, press Make PDFs, save the ZIP
  4. A ZIP with one filled PDF per spreadsheet row.

What happens to your files

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your PDF is opened and changed by your browser, on your own device.
  • Names and data stay local. The PDF and the spreadsheet are read in your browser, so no list leaves your device.
  • Columns matched for you.Columns with the same name as a field are mapped automatically, and you can change each one.

What you can do

  • Read a CSV, TSV or text file, with the delimiter guessed, or an .xlsx file, from its first sheet.
  • Map every fillable field to a column, or leave a field as it is.
  • Put a column heading in curly brackets in text you place on the page, and each copy gets that column's value.
  • Name each file by a column of your choice, or let them be numbered in order.
  • Flatten every copy at once so the answers cannot be changed.
  • Add a signature, ticks or a date to all copies before you make them.

Good to know

  • The first row of the sheet is read as the column headings.
  • Old .xls files are not read. Save the sheet as .xlsx or .csv first.
  • Signature and button fields are not filled from a sheet.
  • Texts are written in Helvetica, and characters it lacks become a question mark. Notes are listed by row after the run.
  • Very big sheets are limited only by your device's memory.

Questions

Can I fill a PDF form for a whole list of people at once?

Yes. Put one person per row in a CSV or Excel sheet, map the columns to the fields and press the button. You get one PDF per row.

Which spreadsheet formats work?

CSV, TSV, plain text and .xlsx. Old .xls files have to be saved as .xlsx or .csv first.

How are the files named?

By the column you pick, for example a name or an ID. Without a choice they are numbered, and duplicate names get a number added.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The PDF and the sheet are read in your browser.
