Kilobytes to terabytes

Convert Kilobytes to terabytes online, free and without signing up. Type a value and the result appears as you type, next to the value in every other data size unit. For example, 10 kilobytes = 0.00000001 terabytes. Nothing is uploaded: the calculation runs in your browser.

How to convert Kilobytes to terabytes

  1. 1Type your value in the “Value” field
  2. 2Check the units in “From” and “To”
  3. 3Read the result, or press “Swap”
  4. The result, and the value in every unit.

What happens to your numbers

  • Nothing is uploaded. The calculation runs in your browser, on your own device.
  • Every unit at once.A table shows your value in all the other data size units.
  • Works offline.Once the tool has been opened, it needs no connection.

What you can do

  • Type any value, including decimals and negative numbers, and see the result as you type.
  • See your value in every data size unit in the table below the result.
  • Press “Swap” to turn the conversion around, or pick other units in “From” and “To”.

Good to know

  • A kilobyte (kB) is 1,000 bytes here. A short email without attachments or a small text file is a few kilobytes.
  • A terabyte (TB) is 1,000 gigabytes, or 10^12 bytes. Hard drives, SSDs and cloud storage plans are sold in terabytes.
  • The units are decimal: 1 kilobyte is 1,000 bytes, not 1,024. Drive makers count this way. Windows counts in steps of 1,024 but still writes GB, so a drive looks smaller there.
  • Results are shown with up to 10 significant digits. Very large or very small numbers appear in exponent form, for example 1.5e+16.

Questions

Are my values sent to a server?

No. The calculation runs in your browser, on your own device. Nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.

How do I convert Kilobytes to terabytes?

Type your value in the “Value” field. The result appears at once, for example 10 kilobytes = 0.00000001 terabytes. “Swap” turns the conversion around.

Why does my drive show less space than the box says?

The box counts in steps of 1,000, as this tool does. Windows counts in steps of 1,024 and still calls it GB, so it shows a smaller number.
