Good to know
- A newton metre (Nm) is the SI unit of torque: the turning force of 1 newton at 1 metre from the axis. Car engines and bolt specs use it.
- A pound-foot (lb-ft) is the torque of 1 pound-force at 1 foot from the axis, 1.3558 Nm. US and UK car specs give torque in lb-ft.
- 1 lb-ft is 1.3558 Nm, and 1 Nm is about 0.7376 lb-ft. Only these two units are offered, not inch-pounds or kilogram-force metres.
- Results are shown with up to 10 significant digits. Very large or very small numbers appear in exponent form, for example 1.5e+16.
