  2. 2Check that the format to convert to is XLSX
  3. 3Start the conversion and save the XLSX file
  4. Your spreadsheet as XLSX, saved on your device.

What happens to your files

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your ODS file is read and converted by your browser, on your own device.
  • Free, no account. You do not sign up for anything and you install nothing.
  • No Excel needed. You need neither Excel nor LibreOffice to convert ODS to XLSX.

What you can do

  • Convert ODS to XLSX and save the result as a file on your device.
  • Read Excel (xlsx, xls), OpenDocument, Numbers, CSV, TSV and JSON, and write Excel, OpenDocument, CSV, JSON and PDF.
  • Convert a workbook with several sheets: you get every sheet, or just the one you pick.
  • Open a CSV with semicolons, as German Excel writes it. The separator is recognized, and decimal commas such as 1.234,56 become numbers.
  • Keep formulas when you save as Excel or OpenDocument.

Good to know

  • The OpenDocument spreadsheet of LibreOffice Calc and others, an open standard (ISO 26300). It keeps formulas and several sheets.
  • The Excel format since 2007: a ZIP of XML files that keeps formulas, several sheets and up to 1,048,576 rows per sheet.
  • CSV, JSON and PDF get the values of formulas, not the formulas. Excel and OpenDocument files keep the formulas.
  • A workbook with several sheets becomes one CSV file per sheet, or one JSON object with a key for each sheet.
  • A JSON file is read as a table: nested objects become columns named like a.b.
  • The page has no upload, so there is nothing to delete afterwards.
