What happens to your numbers

  • Nothing is uploaded. The sum is done by your browser. The number you type never leaves your device.
  • Exact formulas.Fahrenheit is Celsius × 9/5 + 32, and Kelvin is Celsius + 273.15.
  • Works offline.Once the tool has been opened, it needs no connection.

What you can do

  • Convert any value, including decimals and negative numbers. The result changes as you type.
  • A worked example: 20 Fahrenheit = 266.483 Kelvin.
  • Press Swap to turn the conversion around without retyping the number.
  • See the same value in every other temperature unit in one table: Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin.

Good to know

  • Fahrenheit puts the freezing point of water at 32 degrees and its boiling point at 212. It is the everyday scale in the US and a few other countries.
  • Kelvin is the SI unit of temperature and starts at absolute zero, 0 K. One kelvin is the same size as one degree Celsius, and 0 degrees Celsius is 273.15 K.
  • Results show up to 10 significant digits. Very large or very small values appear in exponent form, such as 1.500000e-7.
  • Temperatures are converted by formula, not by one factor, and the value field starts at 20 as a typical room temperature. Absolute zero is 0 Kelvin, -273.15 Celsius and -459.67 Fahrenheit.
