Fuel economy converter

Convert fuel economy units units online, free and without signing up: L/100km, km/L and mpg. Type a value and the result appears as you type, together with the value in every other unit. Nothing is uploaded: the calculation runs in your browser.

How to use the Fuel economy converter

  1. 1Type your value in the “Value” field
  2. 2Choose the units in “From” and “To”
  3. 3Read the result and the table of all units
  4. One result, and the value in every unit.

What happens to your numbers

  • Nothing is uploaded. The calculation runs in your browser, on your own device.
  • Every unit at once.A table shows your value in all the other fuel economy units.
  • Works offline.Once the tool has been opened, it needs no connection.

What you can do

  • Convert between every pair of the units with one input: “From” and “To” can be any of them.
  • See your value in every fuel economy unit at once in the table below the result.
  • Press “Swap” to turn the conversion around.
  • Type decimals or negative numbers and see the result as you type.

Good to know

  • L/100km runs the other way from km/L and mpg: a lower number is better. A value of 0 cannot be converted into those two and shows a dash.
  • mpg means US miles per gallon. A UK (imperial) gallon is bigger, so the same car shows about 20% more mpg in UK figures.
  • Results are shown with up to 10 significant digits. Very large or very small numbers appear in exponent form, for example 1.5e+16.

Questions

Are my values sent to a server?

No. The calculation runs in your browser, on your own device. Nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.

How do I switch the direction?

Press “Swap”. “From” and “To” change places and the result updates.

Is this US or UK mpg?

US mpg, with a gallon of 3.785 litres. 10 L/100km is 23.52 US mpg. UK mpg figures for the same car are about 20% higher.
