Crop PDF
Crop PDF pages: draw a box over the page or type the margins in mm, inches or per cent, for every page at once or one page at a time. Choose whether the cut-off part is only hidden or removed from the file. Free, and the PDF is cropped on your device.
How to crop a PDF
- 1Drop your PDF in, or click to choose it
- 2Drag a box over the page, type the margins or click “Trim white edges”
- 3Choose “Only hide it” or “Remove it for good”
- 4Click “Save cropped PDF”
- The same PDF, with every page cut to your box
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded.Your PDF is read and written by your browser, on your own device
- Hidden or gone, you choose. The tool says plainly whether the cut-off part is still in the file
- Text stays text. The pages are not turned into pictures, so the words inside can still be selected and searched
What you can do
- Draw the crop with the mouse or a finger, move it with the arrow keys, or type each margin in mm, cm, inches, points or per cent
- Use the same crop on every page, or give each page its own and copy one to all, odd or even pages
- Trim the white edges of a page, or of every page, down to what is printed on it
- Hide the cut-off part, so it can be shown again later, or take its text, pictures, links and form fields out of the file
- Crop turned pages and pages that already have a crop, with the box landing where you drew it
Good to know
- “Only hide it” sets the page's crop box. The rest is still in the file, and any PDF program can show it again
- “Remove it for good” also removes letters the edge cuts through. Lines and shapes that cross the edge stay whole in the file, but only the part inside shows
- To hide one private detail in the middle of a page, use Redact PDF instead
- With “Remove it for good”, a photo that crosses the edge is stored again without JPEG compression, so the file can get bigger
- PDFs up to 250 MB open on a computer, up to 80 MB on a phone. A PDF locked with a password, or against changes, has to be unlocked first
Questions
How do I crop a PDF for free?
Open the PDF here, drag a box over the page or type the margins, and click “Save cropped PDF”. It costs nothing and the file stays on your device.
Is the cropped part really deleted?
Only if you choose “Remove it for good”. With “Only hide it” the part is out of sight, but it is still in the file and can be shown again.
Can I crop each page differently?
Yes. Choose “A crop per page”, set the crop on each page in the strip, and use “Use on odd pages” or “Use on even pages” for books with left and right pages.
How do I remove white margins from a PDF?
Click “Trim white edges on every page”. Each page is cut down to what is printed on it, with a few points of room left around it.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. It is read and written by your browser, on your own device. It is never sent to us or anyone else.
