- 2Pick the format to convert to
- 3Click Convert and save the result
- Your documents in the new format, or one ZIP.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded.Your documents are read and converted by your browser, on your own device.
- Structure comes across.Headings, lists, tables, bold and italic stay in place.
- Several files at once.Drop in more than one and get them back together in a ZIP.
What you can do
- Read Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt), Markdown, HTML, plain text and PDF.
- Write Word, PDF, Markdown, HTML or plain text.
- Make a PDF that looks like your Word file: fonts, sizes, colors and spacing are kept, set in free fonts of the same width (Calibri, Cambria, Arial, Times, Courier).
- Use the fonts on your computer for the PDF (Chrome and Edge ask once) or add your own font files (.ttf, .otf).
- Take the text of a PDF into Word, Markdown, HTML or plain text.
Good to know
- Pictures do not come across, and headers and footers are not carried over to PDF yet.
- From a PDF only its text comes across. A scanned page has no text, so the converter tells you there is nothing to take over.
- Markdown and HTML headings are kept down to three levels; deeper ones become level three.
- A PDF from a Word file uses look-alike fonts when the original ones are not saved in the file or installed.
Questions
Are my documents uploaded to a server?
No. The files are read and converted by your browser on your own device. They are never sent to us or anyone else.
Do I need Word or LibreOffice?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so you need no office program.
Does the formatting survive?
The structure does: headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, bold and italic. Pictures and exact page layout do not.
Can I convert a PDF to Word?
Yes, its text. Add the PDF and choose Word as the format. A scanned PDF has no text to take over.
