What you can do
- Read GPX, KML, KMZ, GeoJSON, TopoJSON, CSV, WKT, TCX, FIT and shapefiles (drop .shp, .dbf and .prj together, or a ZIP).
- Save as GPX, KML, GeoJSON or CSV. You see a drawing of the points, lines and areas, and the text of the result, before you save.
- Drop several files at once and save each one, or all of them together. You can also paste GeoJSON, KML, GPX, WKT or CSV text.
- For a CSV, choose whether its rows are separate points or one track, or let the tool decide from the columns.
Good to know
- Only longitude and latitude (WGS 84, EPSG:4326) are read. A file in another coordinate system is refused with a message to reproject it first.
- GPX has no areas, so they are saved as closed tracks, and holes inside areas are left out. KML leaves out heart rate, cadence and power.
- A shapefile without its .prj is read as WGS 84, and without its .dbf it has no names or attributes. The page says so.
- TCX, FIT and TopoJSON can be read but not written. Convert them to GPX, KML, GeoJSON or CSV.

Is the geo file converter free, and are my files uploaded?
It is free, and there is no sign-up. The files are not uploaded: your browser does the conversion on your device.
How do I convert KML to GPX or GPX to GeoJSON?
Drop the file in, choose the new format under "Convert to" and save. Several files at once work too.
Do names, elevation and times stay?
They carry across wherever the new format has a place for them. What does not fit is listed under the drawing before you save.
Can I convert a shapefile?
Yes. Drop the .shp together with its .dbf and .prj, or a ZIP with them. The result can be GPX, KML, GeoJSON or CSV.
