LAB to RGB
Convert LAB to RGB online, free: type L, a and b and get the red, green and blue values from 0 to 255 that apps, code and office programs ask for. lab(52% 40 60) becomes rgb(197, 92, 5). When a Lab color is too vivid for sRGB, you get the nearest RGB color instead of channels that are simply cut off.
How to convert LAB to RGB
- 1Type the Lab value into "Color", for example 52 40 60
- 2Check the swatch: it shows the color you typed
- 3Copy rgb() from the big line, or R, G and B from the list
- Three whole numbers from 0 to 255, written as rgb()
Why this converter
- No clipped channels.Colors outside sRGB lose chroma, not lightness or hue, the way CSS Color 4 maps them
- Every format in one list.HEX, HSL, HSV, HWB, CMYK, LCH, OKLCH and XYZ come with the same color, each with a copy button
- Nothing is sent anywhere. The arithmetic happens in your browser, on your own device
What you can do
- Turn CIE Lab into rgb() with whole numbers from 0 to 255
- Type three bare numbers, separated by spaces or commas, or a full lab() value with L in percent
- Pick a color with the color picker instead: the field then shows it as lab(), and the RGB value follows
- See the same color as HEX for CSS and as CMYK, calculated with the plain formula
Good to know
- RGB here means sRGB, the color space of the web and of most screens. Lab reaches further, so a very saturated Lab color gives an RGB color that is a little less vivid. A note under the swatch tells you when that happens
- Lab is read with the D50 white that CSS lab() uses
- L runs from 0 to 100. A value outside that range gives a message instead of a color
Questions
How do I convert Lab to RGB?
Type the Lab numbers into the field, such as 52 40 60, and read rgb(197, 92, 5) in the big line. Click "Copy" to take the value.
What happens to a Lab color that RGB cannot show?
The tool lowers the chroma until the color fits into sRGB and keeps lightness and hue, instead of cutting channels off at 0 or 255. lab(50% 90 0), for example, gives rgb(237, 0, 124) and a note under the swatch.
Do I get decimals in the RGB result?
No. RGB is written with whole numbers from 0 to 255, like rgb() in CSS. Lab, LCH and OKLCH in the list keep their decimals.
Is my color uploaded?
No. The tool works in your browser, and no request is made with your color.
