Screen color picker
Pick a color from anywhere on your screen, also outside the browser: a pixel in another program, a photo viewer or a website. You get its HEX, RGB, HSL and more right away. A free online eyedropper that uses your browser's own picker, in Chrome, Edge and Opera on a computer.
How to pick a color from your screen
- 1Open this page in Chrome, Edge or Opera on a computer
- 2Click "Pick a color from the screen"
- 3Click the pixel you want, anywhere on the screen, or press Escape
- 4Copy the HEX, RGB or another code
- The color's code in ten formats, ready to copy
How it works
- The browser's own eyedropper. The EyeDropper API reads the pixel and hands only its color to the page
- Anywhere on the screen.Other windows and programs too, not only this page
- Nothing is sent. The picked color stays on this page and goes nowhere else
What you can do
- Pick the color of any pixel on your screen, in this window, another window or another program
- Read it as HEX, RGB, HSL, HSV, HWB, CMYK, LAB, LCH, OKLab and OKLCH, each with a copy button
- Keep the last 12 colors under "Picked so far", each with its HEX code and a copy button
- Stop with Escape when you change your mind, and nothing is picked
Good to know
- Only Chrome, Edge and Opera on a computer offer the EyeDropper API. Firefox and Safari don't, and neither do browsers on phones and tablets. The tool tells you when yours can't
- In other browsers, take a screenshot and use the Color picker from image, which works everywhere
- Each click on "Pick a color from the screen" takes one color. Click again for the next one
- The browser hands over the color as an sRGB HEX code. The tool works out the other formats from it
Questions
How do I pick a color from my screen?
Click "Pick a color from the screen", then click the pixel you want. The color appears with its HEX, RGB and other codes, each with a copy button.
Why does it say my browser can't pick colors from the screen?
Your browser does not offer the EyeDropper API. Firefox, Safari and browsers on phones and tablets don't have it. Open the page in Chrome, Edge or Opera on a computer.
Can I pick a color outside the browser window?
Yes. Once you click the button, you can click anywhere on your screen, in another window or program too.
Does the page see my screen?
No. The page gets only the one color you click, as a HEX code. It does not see or record the rest of your screen, and nothing is sent anywhere.
