Unix timestamp converter

Convert a Unix timestamp to a readable date, or a date to a Unix timestamp, in any time zone. It reads seconds, milliseconds, microseconds and nanoseconds, and shows ISO 8601, HTTP date, relative time and more. It runs in your browser.

How to convert a Unix timestamp

  1. 1Type or paste a timestamp, an ISO date or "now"
  2. 2Pick a time zone, or leave it on your own
  3. 3Read or copy the formats below
  4. The same moment in nine formats.

What you get

  • Seconds to nanoseconds. The unit is detected from the number's size, or you set it.
  • Any time zone.Every zone of your browser's list, with your own on top.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The conversion runs in your browser, on your own device.

What you can do

  • Convert 1700000000 or 1700000000000 to a date. With "Detect from size" up to 11 digits count as seconds, 12 to 14 as milliseconds, 15 to 17 as microseconds and more as nanoseconds.
  • Convert a date the other way: type an ISO 8601 date or use "Or pick a date and time" to get its Unix timestamp in the chosen zone.
  • Show the moment as Unix seconds and milliseconds, ISO 8601 in UTC and in your zone with its offset, a full date, an HTTP date (RFC 7231), a relative time, the day of the year and the ISO week.
  • Set "Read numbers as" to seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds when the size is ambiguous.
  • Show the current Unix time as a live clock, with a copy button. "Keep ticking" stops it.

Good to know

  • Unix time counts the seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC. It has no time zone: the zone only changes how the date is shown.
  • A picked time that does not exist in that zone, because the clocks skip it in spring, is rejected with a message.
  • A time that happens twice when the clocks go back is read as the first of the two.
  • Dates beyond about year 275000 are not accepted, which is the limit of JavaScript dates.

Questions

How do I convert a Unix timestamp to a date?

Paste the number into the box. The date appears in the chosen time zone, in ISO 8601 and in other formats.

How can I tell seconds from milliseconds?

Count the digits. Ten digits, like 1700000000, are seconds. Thirteen digits, like 1700000000000, are milliseconds. The tool does this for you and says which unit it read.

How do I get the current Unix timestamp?

It is shown at the top and counts up live. Click the copy button next to it, or type "now" into the input.

Is my input uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser.
