Graphing calculator
Graphing calculator: type a function such as x^2 - 2 or sin x and see its curve. Draw up to five lines on one graph, drag and zoom to the part you need, and point at a line to read x and y. Lines break where a function jumps, so 1/x and tan x look the way they should.
How to use the graphing calculator
- 1Type a function of x after y =, for example 2x + 1
- 2Add more lines to compare them on one graph
- 3Drag, pinch or use + and − to look closer, then point at a line
- The curves on one graph, with the x and y of the point you choose
What you get
- Gaps stay gaps.Where a function jumps or has no value, like 1/x at 0 or tan x at 90°, the line stops instead of drawing a wall
- Readable axes. The steps on the axes stay round numbers like 0.5, 2 or 50 at every zoom level
- Values as text.A table of values below the graph lists the same numbers, for screen readers or for copying
What you can do
- Write 2x, 3(x + 1) or 2sin x without a times sign
- Use sin, cos, tan, their inverses, sqrt, ln, log, abs, floor and more
- Switch angles between radians and degrees
- Move the graph with the arrow keys and zoom with + and −
- Open the table of values for the part of the graph you see
Good to know
- This version draws graphs. It does not solve equations or find zeros for you
- Use a point for decimals, so 1.5 and not 1,5
- Your lines and the angle setting stay in this browser for next time
Questions
Why does the line of tan x stop at 90 degrees?
Because tan x has no value there. The calculator leaves the gap open instead of joining the very high and the very low part of the curve with a straight line.
How do I write powers and roots?
Use ^ for powers, so x^2 or 2^x, and sqrt(x) for the square root. The signs ², ³ and √ work too.
Do I need radians or degrees?
School graphs of sin and cos are often in degrees, maths and physics after school mostly in radians. The switch above the graph changes all lines at once.
Can I zoom on a phone?
Yes. Pinch with two fingers, drag with one, or use the + and − buttons. Tap a line to see its values.
