JSON minifier

Minify JSON online: remove all spaces, tabs and line breaks so a JSON document fits on one line and takes the fewest bytes. The data stays the same, big numbers keep every digit, and nothing is uploaded.

How to minify JSON

  1. 1Paste your JSON or drop a .json file
  2. 2Leave the action on "Minify (one line)"
  3. 3Copy the one-line result or save it
  4. The same JSON on a single line, without extra whitespace.

What you get

  • One line, same data.Only whitespace between the tokens is removed. Keys, values and order are untouched.
  • Numbers stay exact.Long IDs such as 12345678901234567890 are not rounded.
  • Nothing is uploaded.Your JSON is processed by your browser, on your device.

What you can do

  • Turn pretty-printed JSON into one line, for example for a config value, an environment variable or a request body.
  • Get an error with line and column when the JSON is not valid, instead of a broken result.
  • Switch to "Format", "Sort keys" or "Validate" if you change your mind.
  • Copy the result or save it as a file.

Good to know

  • Minifying cannot shorten keys or drop data. It only removes whitespace.
  • Your JSON is parsed first, so it must be strict: no comments, no trailing commas.
  • Text inside strings, including spaces and \n, is left exactly as it is.

Questions

How much smaller does minified JSON get?

It depends on how much indentation the file had. The more nesting and spaces, the bigger the saving.

Is minified JSON still valid?

Yes. It is the same data, only written without extra whitespace.

Is my JSON uploaded?

No. The work is done in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.

Can I turn it back into readable JSON?

Yes. Paste it into the JSON formatter, or switch the action to "Format" here.
