Fix perspective of a photo
Fix the perspective of a photo: drag four corners onto a sheet, a painting, a sign or a screen photographed at an angle, and that shape is pulled into a straight rectangle, in its own proportions or as A4, square, 4:3 or 3:2. The picture is processed on your device, not uploaded for processing.
How to fix the perspective of a photo
- 1Drop a photo in or click to choose it
- 2Drag the four corners onto the corners of the sheet, painting or screen
- 3Choose a shape, or keep the one the corners give
- 4Press "Save picture"
- A straight, flat picture of just that rectangle
What happens to your files
- Processed on your device. The photo is opened and straightened in your browser. It is not uploaded for processing
- From the full photo. The rectangle is made from the photo's own pixels, not from the smaller copy you drag the corners on
- See it before you save. The straight result shows next to the photo and changes as you move a corner
What you can do
- Drag the corners with the mouse or a finger. The tool makes a first guess, and a sheet on a table of another colour is often found by itself
- Choose the shape under "Shape": "From the corners" (as long and wide as the corners measure), A4, 1:1, 4:3 or 3:2. The result stands or lies as your corners do
- Turn the photo a quarter left or right first if it was taken sideways. The corners turn with it
- Move a corner with the keyboard: Tab to it and use the arrow keys, with Shift in bigger steps
- Straighten a tilted horizon under "Straighten" when nothing in the photo has four corners
Good to know
- Only what lies inside the four corners is kept, and it is treated as flat. Anything that sticks out, like the depth of a frame, is pulled along with it
- A JPG and an iPhone photo (HEIC) are saved as JPG at quality 92, PNG and other formats as PNG with their see-through parts. The name gets "-straightened" added
- A part that was far from the camera has fewer pixels in the photo, so it looks a little softer once it is pulled to full size
- Pictures up to 200 megapixels open on a computer and up to 64 on a phone. A result above 50 megapixels (16 on a phone) is saved smaller, and the tool says so before you save
Questions
How do I fix a photo of a document taken at an angle?
Drop the photo in and drag the four corners onto the page's corners. Choose A4 for a standard page, then press "Save picture".
Can I straighten a photo of a painting or a screen?
Yes. Anything with four corners works: a painting, a whiteboard, a sign, a monitor. Put one handle on each of its corners.
Which shape should I choose?
"From the corners" keeps the proportions the corners measure in the photo. These are close to the real ones, but not exact when the photo was taken at a steep angle. If you know the real shape, such as A4 or a 4:3 screen, choose it.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is opened and straightened in your browser.
