JSON diff
Compare two JSON documents by their data. Key order and number formatting are ignored, and every added, removed or changed value is listed with its path. Paste or drop both documents: nothing is uploaded.
How to compare two JSON files
- 1Paste or drop the original JSON on the left
- 2Paste or drop the changed JSON on the right
- 3Read the list of changed paths
- A table of added, removed and changed paths.
What happens to your JSON
- Nothing is uploaded. Both documents are parsed and compared by your browser, on your own device.
- Data, not layout.Key order, spacing and line breaks do not count as changes.
- Big numbers stay exact.Long IDs and decimals are compared digit by digit, not rounded.
What you can do
- List every added, removed and changed value in a table with its path, such as items[2].price, the old value and the new value.
- Count the changes at the top: how many were added, removed and changed.
- Show both documents again as key-sorted JSON, side by side, to see each change in context.
- Point to the side that is not valid JSON, with the error message, so you know what to fix.
- Copy the list of changes as text, or swap the two sides.
Good to know
- Arrays are compared by position. Insert an item at the start and the items after it show as changed.
- A value that changes type, for example from a number to a string, is reported as one change.
- The table shows the first 2000 changes.
- To compare the text line by line, with spacing and order kept, use the text diff.
Questions
How do I compare two JSON files?
Paste the original on the left and the changed JSON on the right. The tool lists every path that was added, removed or changed.
Does the order of keys matter?
No. Keys are matched by name. Two objects with the same keys and values in a different order count as the same.
Can it compare very large numbers?
Yes. Numbers are kept as written, so 12345678901234567890 and 12345678901234567891 are reported as different.
Is my JSON uploaded?
No. The comparison runs in your browser, so API responses and config files stay on your device.
