YAML to JSON

Convert YAML to JSON online and for free, without an account. Paste your data or drop a file in, and the result appears right away. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser.

How to convert YAML to JSON

  1. 1Paste your YAML or drop a file in
  2. 2Check that the format to convert to is JSON
  3. 3Copy or save the JSON result
  4. Your data as JSON, ready to use.

What happens to your data

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your data is read and converted by your browser, on your own device.
  • Free, no account. You do not sign up for anything and you install nothing.
  • One tool, many formats. The same page also converts JSON, YAML, CSV, TSV, JSON Lines, .env and query strings.

What you can do

  • Convert YAML to JSON as you go: paste your data or drop a file in, and the result is there.
  • Copy the result, or use it in another tool of the site.
  • Choose 2 or 4 spaces of indent when the result is JSON or YAML.
  • Swap the two formats with one click to convert the other way, when the result can be read back.
  • Turn a table into a Markdown table or an HTML table for a README or a web page.

Good to know

  • A readable format for settings and config, where indentation shows the structure. Reading keeps big numbers exact; writing lets you pick 2 or 4 spaces of indent.
  • JavaScript Object Notation, the usual format for web data. Numbers are kept exactly, even ones too big for JavaScript. A list of objects works as a table, one row per object.
  • A table (CSV, TSV, JSON Lines) cannot become one .env file or one query string. Those hold a single object of names and values.
  • A CSV is read with its first line as the column names. A semicolon as separator is recognized.
  • Between text formats, big numbers such as 12345678901234567890 keep every digit.
  • If the input is not valid, you see the error and its position instead of a result.
