Text QR code generator

Turn any text into a QR code, free and online: a note, a contact, a coupon code or a short message. Type or paste the text, and download the code as PNG or SVG. It is made on your device, so your text is not uploaded.

How to make a QR code from text

  1. 1Type or paste your text into the box
  2. 2Pick the colors, the size and the error correction
  3. 3Download the PNG or SVG
  4. A QR code that shows your text when scanned.

What you get

  • Made on your device.Your text stays in your browser and is not sent anywhere.
  • Shows your text.A scanner app displays the text exactly as you wrote it.
  • PNG or SVG.Download for screens or for sharp print.

What you can do

  • Put in any text, several lines too. Accents and emoji are fine.
  • Choose the PNG size: 512, 1024 or 2048 px, or take the SVG.
  • Pick the code and background colors.
  • Choose the error correction: Low, Medium, High or Highest.
  • Switch "What it opens" to a Wi-Fi network when you want people to join it.

Good to know

  • One QR code holds a limited amount of text. If it is too long, the tool asks you to shorten it or lower the error correction.
  • The more text, the denser and harder to scan the code. Keep it short for small prints.
  • Text that looks like a link may be opened as one by the scanner app.
  • The code holds the text itself, so it never expires and can't be edited later.

Questions

What can I put in a text QR code?

Any text: a message, a phone number, an address or a code. Scanners show it, and some offer to copy it.

How much text fits?

A fixed amount, which depends on the error correction. If yours is too long, the tool tells you.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The code is made in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.

Can I change the text after printing?

No. The text is in the code itself. Make a new code for new text.
