Merge TCX files

Merge several TCX files into one TCX activity, in time order. Use it to put a split recording back together, for example from a Garmin or a Polar export. Heart rate and times stay, and nothing is uploaded.

How to merge TCX files

  1. 1Drop all your .tcx files in at once
  2. 2Check the notes about gaps and overlaps
  3. 3Click "Save TCX" to get one merged file
  4. One TCX file with every part, in time order.

What happens to your files

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your TCX files are read and joined by your browser, on your own device.
  • One lap, one track per part. The saved TCX keeps each file as its own track, with a pause between them.
  • Heart rate and times stay.Every trackpoint keeps its time, position, altitude, heart rate, cadence and watts.

What you can do

  • Join several TCX files into one, sorted by when each one starts.
  • Keep a gap as a pause between parts, so moving time stays honest.
  • Fill sensor values that one overlapping file lacks from the other one.
  • Mix in GPX or FIT files if a part exists only in that format.
  • Save as TCX, or as GPX or FIT if the next app prefers that.

Good to know

  • The saved TCX has one lap that covers the whole activity. The laps of the originals are not kept as separate laps.
  • TCX needs a time on every point. If a file has none, "Save TCX" stays off and the page tells you to use "Fix times" or save as GPX.
  • Calories are not carried over: the saved lap says 0.

Questions

How do I combine two TCX files?

Drop both files on this page, check the notes, and click "Save TCX". You get one activity in time order.

Does merging TCX files keep my heart rate?

Yes. Heart rate, cadence and power stay on their trackpoints.

Can I merge TCX files from different devices?

Yes, as long as they are TCX, GPX or FIT files. Overlapping parts are joined and sensor gaps are filled from the other file.

Are my TCX files uploaded?

No. They are merged in your browser and never leave your device.
