GPX merge
Join several GPX, FIT or TCX activities into one file, in time order. Heart rate, cadence, power and timestamps stay. Use it for a ride your watch recorded in pieces, or two devices that ran at once. Nothing is uploaded.
How to merge GPX files
- 1Drop all your GPX, FIT or TCX files in at once
- 2Check the notes about gaps and overlaps
- 3Save the merged activity as GPX, TCX or FIT
- One activity from all your files, in time order.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded.Your files are read and joined by your browser, on your own device.
- Times decide the order.Files are sorted by when they start, no matter how you dropped them.
- Formats can be mixed.GPX, TCX and FIT files go into one activity, and you choose the format to save.
What you can do
- Join any mix of GPX, TCX and FIT files into one activity, sorted by start time.
- Keep a gap between two files as a pause, so moving time is not inflated.
- Merge overlapping recordings: the earlier file is kept, and sensor values it lacks, such as heart rate from a chest strap, are filled in from the other file when a sample lies within 5 seconds.
- Read a note for every file, gap and overlap, with the times in your own time zone.
- Continue with the result: "Keep this and continue" lets you crop, split or fix the times next, and "Undo" steps back.
Good to know
- A file without timestamps goes at the end, in the order you gave it.
- Where two files overlap, the later file only adds what comes after the earlier one ends.
- TCX and FIT need a time on every point. A merged route without times can be saved as GPX only.
- Once files are merged, the other modes work on the joined activity or on one file, as you pick in "Work on".
Questions
How do I combine two GPX files into one?
Drop both files on this page. They are joined in time order, and you save the result as GPX.
What happens to the gap between two files?
It stays a pause in the merged activity, and a note tells you how long it was.
Can I merge a FIT file with a GPX file?
Yes. Any mix of GPX, TCX and FIT works, and you pick the output format at the end.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Merging happens in your browser, and the files are never sent to a server.
