GPX reverse
Reverse a GPX, FIT or TCX route or activity so you can ride, run or walk it the other way. Start and end swap places. The times are mirrored, so the reversed track still starts when the original did. Nothing is uploaded.
How to reverse a GPX file
- 1Drop your GPX, FIT or TCX file in, or click to choose it
- 2Check the reversed route and its profile
- 3Save as GPX, TCX or FIT
- The same route, from the old end to the old start.
What happens to your files
- Nothing is uploaded. The route is reversed by your browser, on your own device.
- Nothing is lost on the way.Elevation, heart rate, cadence and power stay on their points.
- The profile turns with it.The elevation chart shows the climb the way you will meet it.
What you can do
- Reverse the order of all points, so the track runs from the old end to the old start.
- Mirror the times: the activity still starts at the original start time, and every stretch takes as long as before.
- Keep the pauses of a recording where they were, in reverse order.
- Reverse a route that has no times at all, such as a planned GPX route.
- Save the result as GPX, TCX or FIT, with "-reversed" added to the file name.
Good to know
- Reversing does not re-plan the route. One-way streets, ferries and a climb that was easy downhill are not looked at.
- Heart rate and other sensor values stay with their point on the road, so they now run in the reverse order too.
- TCX and FIT need a time on every point. A route without times can only be saved as GPX.
Questions
How do I reverse a GPX route?
Drop the file on this page and open it in the "Reverse" mode. The reversed track is shown at once, and you save it.
Can I reverse a FIT file from my watch?
Yes. The tool reads FIT, TCX and GPX and writes any of the three.
Why do the times in the reversed file look odd?
They are mirrored: the first point of the new track gets the start time, and every stretch keeps its duration. For a ride you will do, only the route matters.
Is my file uploaded?
No. It is reversed in your browser and never sent to a server.
