GPX cropper

Cut the start or end off a GPX, FIT or TCX activity, by time or by distance. Use it to hide your home or work before you share a ride or run. The file is cropped in your browser and never uploaded.

How to crop a GPX file

  1. 1Drop your GPX, FIT or TCX file in, or click to choose it
  2. 2Drag the two handles on the profile, or type the range
  3. 3Save as GPX, TCX or FIT
  4. The same activity, without the part you cut off.

What happens to your files

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your track is cropped by your browser, on your own device.
  • Your home stays private. The cut part is gone from the saved file, not just hidden.
  • Everything else is kept.Heart rate, cadence, power and times stay on the points you keep.

What you can do

  • Crop by time or by distance. Time works when the file has timestamps, otherwise distance is used.
  • Drag the start and end handles on the elevation or heart-rate chart, or type the range as h:mm:ss or in kilometres from the start.
  • See which points stay and which go on the map, and how many points are kept.
  • Press "Keep this and continue" to crop again, for example to cut the start now and the end after, and use "Undo" to step back.
  • Save the result as GPX, TCX or FIT.

Good to know

  • The range is measured from the start of the activity, not from the clock. The note under the options shows the clock times that remain.
  • TCX and FIT need a time on every point. For a route without times, save as GPX or use "Fix times" first.
  • A map shows only a line, so the cut is drawn without any map tiles.

Questions

How do I hide where I live in a GPX file?

Crop the first and last few hundred metres off before you share it. The removed points are not in the file you save.

Does cropping change my times or heart rate?

No. The points you keep are copied as they are, with time, elevation, heart rate, cadence and power.

Can I crop a FIT or TCX file too?

Yes. Open the file, crop it and save as GPX, TCX or FIT.

Is my activity uploaded?

No. The file is cropped in your browser and never sent to a server.
