Typography converter

Convert typography units units online, free and without signing up: millimetres (mm), points (pt) and pixels (px). Type a value and the result appears as you type, together with the value in every other unit. Nothing is uploaded: the calculation runs in your browser.

How to use the Typography converter

  1. 1Type your value in the “Value” field
  2. 2Choose the units in “From” and “To”
  3. 3Read the result and the table of all units
  4. One result, and the value in every unit.

What happens to your numbers

  • Nothing is uploaded. The calculation runs in your browser, on your own device.
  • Every unit at once.A table shows your value in all the other typography units.
  • Works offline.Once the tool has been opened, it needs no connection.

What you can do

  • Convert between every pair of the units with one input: “From” and “To” can be any of them.
  • See your value in every typography unit at once in the table below the result.
  • Press “Swap” to turn the conversion around.
  • Type decimals or negative numbers and see the result as you type.

Good to know

  • Pixels are counted at 96 per inch and points at 72 per inch, as in CSS. That makes 1 pt equal to 1.3333 px. Units like em, rem and pica are not included.
  • Results are shown with up to 10 significant digits. Very large or very small numbers appear in exponent form, for example 1.5e+16.

Questions

Are my values sent to a server?

No. The calculation runs in your browser, on your own device. Nothing you type is sent to us or anyone else.

How do I switch the direction?

Press “Swap”. “From” and “To” change places and the result updates.

How many pixels is 12 pt?

12 pt is 16 px, because 1 pt is 4/3 px. To get px from pt, multiply by 1.3333. To get pt from px, multiply by 0.75.
