Add watermark to PDF

Stamp a text or picture watermark across the pages of a PDF, such as CONFIDENTIAL or your logo. Set the size, angle, opacity and colour, check the preview, and apply it to all pages or just the ones you pick. Nothing is uploaded.

How to add a watermark to a PDF

What happens to your files

  • Nothing is uploaded.Your PDF is opened and changed by your browser, on your own device.
  • See it before it is written.The preview shows the watermark on the pages until you press Apply.
  • One undo step.Apply adds it as one change, and Undo takes it off again.

What you can do

  • Write your own text: the box starts with CONFIDENTIAL, and you can change it to DRAFT, COPY or a name.
  • Set the text size from 8 to 96 pt, the angle to 0, 30, 45, 60 or 90 degrees and one of five colours.
  • Use a picture instead, such as a logo or stamp, at 25, 50, 75 or 100 percent of the page.
  • Make it fainter or stronger with the opacity slider, from 5 to 100 percent.
  • Put it on all pages, on the pages you picked in the thumbnails or on a range like 1-3, 5.

Good to know

  • The watermark is centred on the page. You choose its size and angle, but not a different position.
  • The text is written into the page, so it can be selected and removed again only with Undo before you save.
  • The opacity of a picture is baked into the image before it is added, so set the opacity before you press Apply.
  • A password-protected PDF has to be opened without the password first.

How do I add a CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT watermark to a PDF?

Open the PDF here, type the word in the watermark box, adjust the angle and opacity, press Apply and save.

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes. Press "Use a picture", choose an image file, pick a size and opacity and apply it.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Choose picked pages or a page range under "On" before you press Apply.

Does my PDF leave my computer?

No. The watermark is written in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
