  2. 2Read the result below, it appears as you type

What you get

  • Two hex digits per byte. Each pair of digits is read as one byte, and the bytes are decoded as UTF-8.
  • Result as you type.No button to press, the result changes with every keystroke.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The conversion runs in your browser, the text stays on your device.

What you can do

  • Decode hex written with spaces, commas or line breaks, or as one long string.
  • Read pasted values with a 0x prefix, such as 0x48 0x65.
  • Show accented letters and emoji, because multi-byte UTF-8 sequences are decoded.

Good to know

  • Everything that is not a hex digit (0 to 9, a to f) is thrown away before the digits are paired.
  • If the number of digits is odd, the last digit is left out.
  • Upper and lower case digits both work: 4A and 4a mean the same.

Questions

How do I convert hex to text?

Paste the hex bytes into the box. Each pair of digits becomes one character, for example 48 is H and 69 is i.

Does it need spaces or a 0x prefix?

Neither. Spaces and 0x prefixes are accepted, but a plain string like 48656c6c6f works too.

What is the difference to the hex decode tool?

Both decode hex to text. This one also accepts 0x prefixes and any separators between the bytes.
