Decimal (ASCII codes) to text

Convert decimal ASCII codes to text, free and online. Paste numbers such as 72 101 108 108 111 and read the characters they stand for. Nothing is uploaded: your browser does the conversion.

How to convert ASCII codes to text

  1. 1Paste or type the text into the box
  2. 2Read the result below, it appears as you type
  3. 3Copy the result with the copy button
  4. The characters your code numbers stand for.

What you get

  • One number, one character.Every group of digits in your input is read as a character code and turned into that character.
  • Result as you type.No button to press, the result changes with every keystroke.
  • Nothing is uploaded. The conversion runs in your browser, the text stays on your device.

What you can do

  • Decode lists of decimal codes separated by spaces, commas or line breaks.
  • Read codes above 127 too: 233 is é, 8364 is the euro sign, 128512 is an emoji.
  • Check the output of the matching text to decimal tool by pasting it back.

Good to know

  • Any separator works, because the tool picks out every run of digits.
  • The numbers are Unicode code points, not bytes. For ASCII (0 to 127) both are the same.
  • A number above 1114111 is not a valid code and the tool shows an error instead of a result.

Questions

How do I convert ASCII codes to text?

Paste the decimal codes into the box. Each number becomes its character, for example 72 is H and 105 is i.

Do I need spaces between the numbers?

Some separator is needed, but it can be a space, a comma or a line break.

Does it only handle ASCII?

No. Numbers above 127 give the matching Unicode character, such as accented letters, symbols and emoji.
