Convert octal to text, free and online. Paste three-digit octal codes such as 110 145 154 154 157 and read the words they stand for. Nothing is uploaded: your browser does the decoding.

How to convert octal to text

Good to know

  • Digits are read three at a time. A group of fewer than three digits at the end is ignored.
  • Only the digits 0 to 7 count. Anything else, including 8 and 9, is treated as a separator.
  • Plain ASCII characters have codes from 000 to 177.

Questions

How do I convert octal to text?

Paste the octal codes into the box. Every three digits become one character, for example 110 is H and 151 is i.

Do I need to keep the leading zeros?

Yes, write each code with three digits, such as 040 for a space. The tool reads three digits at a time.

Why is a code skipped?

Codes with fewer than three digits, or with digits 8 or 9, are not read as octal bytes.
