What you can do

  • Turn any text into base 8, three digits per byte, padded with leading zeros.
  • Convert letters, digits, punctuation and line breaks. "A" is 101 and a space is 040.
  • Write characters outside ASCII as their UTF-8 bytes, so "é" gives 303 251.
  • Convert octal back with Octal to Text.

Good to know

  • Every byte gets exactly three digits, from 000 to 377. There is no prefix such as 0o.
  • The output is the UTF-8 encoding of your text, so one character can give up to four bytes.
  • Codes are separated by single spaces.
