Text to Unicode code points

Convert text to Unicode code points online: every character becomes its U+ number, so "é" is U+00E9 and a smiley is U+1F600. Type or paste your text and the code points appear as you type. Free, no sign-up, nothing leaves your browser.

How to convert text to Unicode code points

  1. 1Type or paste your text into the input box
  2. 2Read the U+ code points in the result box
  3. 3Click "Copy" to take them with you
  4. One U+ code point per character, separated by spaces.

What you get

  • Nothing is uploaded. The conversion runs in your browser, so your text stays on your device.
  • Updates as you type. The result follows every keystroke, with no button to press.
  • Works offline.Once the tool has been opened, it needs no connection.

What you can do

  • Show the Unicode code point of every character, such as U+0041 for "A".
  • Handle any script and emoji. A character outside the first 65,536 is shown as one code point, such as U+1F600.
  • Find out which character is hiding in a text, for example a look-alike letter or an invisible space.
  • Turn code points back into text with Unicode code points to Text.

Good to know

  • Code points are upper case hex with at least four digits, so "A" is U+0041.
  • One code point per visible symbol is not guaranteed: an emoji with a skin tone or a flag is several code points.
  • Line breaks and spaces get a code point too: U+000A and U+0020.

Questions

How do I convert text to Unicode code points?

Paste your text into the input box. The U+ numbers appear in the result box straight away. Click "Copy" to copy them.

What is a code point?

The number Unicode gives to a character. Every letter, digit, symbol and emoji has one.

How is this different from UTF-8 bytes?

A code point is the character's number. UTF-8 is one way to store it as bytes. For the bytes, use Text to Hex.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Your browser does the conversion on your own device.
