Hours worked calculator
Hours worked calculator for a day or a whole week. Type the start, end and break of each shift and see the hours as hours and minutes and as decimal hours, the week's total, the regular hours and the overtime. Good to know
- A shift that ends at or before its start runs past midnight
- Rounding moves a time to the nearest step, and a time exactly halfway goes up. The break is not rounded
- The default limit is 40 hours a week. Your contract or local law may set other limits
- The week is kept only while the page is open. Save it as CSV to keep it
Questions
How do I work out the hours I worked?
Take the end time minus the start time, then the break. From 08:30 to 17:15 with a 45 minute break is 8 hours.
How do I turn hours and minutes into decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60. 7 hours 45 minutes is 7 + 45 ÷ 60 = 7.75 hours.
How are night shifts counted?
When the end time is before the start time, the shift ends the next day. 22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours.
