Good to know
- Letters that are not an accented base letter stay as they are: ß, æ, ø, œ and ł are not changed.
- ü becomes u, not ue. For German-style ae, oe, ue and ss use Umlaut converter.
- Only the accent marks are removed. Everything else, including capitals, stays as typed.
- Accents on non-Latin scripts, such as Greek tonos marks, are stripped too.
Questions
How do I remove accents from text online?
Paste the text. The result shows the same text with é, ü, ñ and the like turned into e, u and n.
Does ü become u or ue?
u. If you want ue, ä to ae, ö to oe and ß to ss, use the Umlaut converter.
Why did ø or ß not change?
They are letters of their own, not a letter with an accent mark on it, so this tool leaves them. Use Find and replace text for those.
Does it change capitals or spaces?
No. Only accent marks are removed.
