Remove line breaks

Remove line breaks and join the lines of a text into one paragraph. Every line break becomes a single space, so text copied from a PDF, an email or a narrow column flows as one block. It runs in your browser.

How to remove line breaks from text

  1. 1Paste your text into the Input box
  2. 2The Result box shows it as one paragraph
  3. 3Click "Copy" to take the joined text
  4. One paragraph in place of many short lines.

What you get

  • Your text never leaves. The lines are joined in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
  • No words run together. Each break turns into a space, so the words around it stay apart.
  • Result as you type.No button to press: it updates with every edit.

What you can do

  • Join all lines of a text into one line.
  • Replace each break, with the spaces around it, by a single space.
  • Fix text copied from a PDF or an email where every line ends in a hard break.
  • Handle Windows and Unix line endings alike.

Good to know

  • Paragraph breaks go too: blank lines collapse into one space, so everything ends up in one block.
  • A word hyphenated at the end of a line keeps its hyphen. Use "Find and replace text" to take those out.
  • Leading and trailing spaces of the whole text are trimmed.

Questions

How do I remove line breaks from text?

Paste the text into the Input box. The Result box shows it as one line. Click "Copy" to take it.

Does it keep paragraphs apart?

No. Blank lines are joined as well, so the result is one block. Use it on a single paragraph or accept that all paragraphs merge.

Does it replace line breaks with a space or nothing?

With a single space, so the words before and after the break do not stick together.

Is my text uploaded?

No. It is processed in your browser, on your own device.
