Remove HTML tags

Remove HTML tags and get plain text. Paste HTML source and the tool returns only the text between the tags, with entities like & turned into real characters. It runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

How to strip HTML tags from text

  1. 1Paste your HTML into the Input box
  2. 2The Result box shows the text without tags
  3. 3Click "Copy" to take the plain text
  4. Plain text without any markup.

What you get

  • Your HTML stays with you.It is read by your browser and never sent to a server.
  • Nothing in it is run.The HTML is parsed as a document, so scripts in it do not execute.
  • Result as you type.No button: the text updates with every edit.

What you can do

  • Strip tags, attributes and comments, and keep the text between them.
  • Turn entities such as &, < and   into the characters they stand for.
  • Work on a full page or only a snippet, such as a copied block of a template.
  • Copy the plain text with one click.

Good to know

  • Line breaks come from your source text. A <br> or a closing </p> does not add a new line, so text can run together.
  • Text inside script or style blocks that sit in the body is kept as text.
  • A broken or half tag is read the way a browser would read it, so the result can differ from what you expect.

Questions

How do I remove HTML tags from text?

Paste the HTML into the Input box. The Result box shows the text without tags. Click "Copy" to take it.

Does it also decode &amp; and &nbsp;?

Yes. Entities are turned into the characters they stand for, so &amp; becomes & in the result.

Will it add line breaks for <p> and <br>?

No. The result keeps only the line breaks that are in your source. Tags themselves add none.
